Babson College in Ghana

As part of the Babson College MBA International Off-Shore Elective, I am going with a bunch of students to Ghana to take part in "Culture, Society and Entrepreneurship in Developing Economies".

This program will link academic course work with a two-week service learning immersion experience in the cities of Takoradi and Sekondi, Ghana.

Teams of students (30 Undergrad and 6 MBA) and accompanying faculty will travel to Ghana on January 9th (return Jan 22nd) and work with local business people on business planning and development and with local high school students to help develop their entrepreneurial skills. Our Student Teams plan to teach at 12 different high-schools. We will also engage in planned cultural activities while in the country.

We need your help in order to provide our services to the students in Ghana. For example, we need Laptop Computers, Books, education CD's, DVD's, etc... The top priority item is a "laptop". The laptop does not have to be in new condition. It can be a used one from your company, husband/wife, children, friends, etc... We have already collected 8 laptops for the 12 schools. We are still desperately looking for another 5-10 laptops. If we get more, even better. We have spoken to our host in Ghana and he says that "Even if the laptop is broken, get it, our people will fix it and use it." So it is our appeal to everyone to donate their old/new laptops for this noble cause.

Also, as part of the program, we are collecting donation to sponsor some of our student trips. You can make checks payable to Babson College (to qualify as a tax deductible donation - please let me know if you need any receipts or letters for the same). Donation can also be collected on PayPal by putting my email address bshah1@babson.edu. Again, we would appreciate any form of donation that will make our trip successful and let us provide the entrepreneurial and coaching skills that are necessary for the Ghanaian students.

We hope that you see the social cause behind this effort and help us reach out to people in developing countries. We appreciate your time and consideration.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Bhavin Shah
